According to figures in the Health and Safety Executive Annual Statistics Report for Great Britain, 2012/13, 22.7 million working days were lost due to work-related ill health during the period, and mental illness is the single highest cause of working days lost within this figure. By mental illness we speak mainly of stress related issues. The inability to think clearly, the fogginess, the forgetfulness, the very short tolerance to mistakes, criticisms (even constructive), change and noise; all things that in a work environment happen on a daily basis.
Two scientific reviews in 2005 on yoga’s effects on anxiety and depression found that yoga helps moderate reactions to and perceptions of stress, as well as significantly lifting depression. It bumps up levels of the neurotransmitter GABA, which improves moods. Dr. Jose Foglia MD. Found that yoga, being a dynamic form of meditation, creates more cognitive flexibility, stimulating Neuroplasticity and allowing the mind to be more receptive, accepting and flexible. Morning Yoga practice
Beginning the day with stretching and flexibility can allow your staff to start the day with incredible energy and heightened performance at work. It allows your staff to feel more focused, calm and ready to take on the world and deal with even the most stressful situation. This practice includes a 10 minutes guided meditation to calm the entire Parasympathetic nervous system, allowing employees to create a structured approach to their workday and become more efficient. Times can be negotiated to suit office hours.
Cost per class: 1hour: £85 (once a week)
45 minutes: £80 per class (once a week)
1 hour: £80 per class (twice a week)
45 minutes: £70 per class (twice a week)
1 hour: £ 70 per class (three times or more)

Lunchtime Yoga practice
Some employees might find it easier to dedicate 45min over lunch to get in their workout. What we have noticed with this option is that normally afternoon, after lunchtime Yoga, are much more productive with enhanced concentration and less cravings or the famous “3pm dip”.

Evening Yoga practice
Most employees find ending the day with one hour practice is helpful in allowing them to disconnect from work, have a pleasant and relaxed evening and having more energy and concentration the next day. This practice is certainly helpful for employees with muscle/skeletal pain due to posture at their desk, managing to release and relax their entire body. Evening practices also promote better sleep and relief from stress.
