Month after month my synchronicity with Hay House is getting stronger! Each time I am offered amazing new titles to choose from, I always find one that is in line with that I am thinking and exploring, so naturally, the best fit for me to read and review!
This means that writing reviews is so effortless and pleasant, because I always have the pleasure of sharing what I have learned and what a book has personally done for me!
Chakras – Seven Keys to Awakening and Healing the Energy Body , by Anodea Judith came into my life at the perfect time too.
As a yoga teacher, I am always studying on my own or taking courses to progress in my path. My last course (the first of 6 modules towards becoming a 500hrs certified teacher) was about the Chakras!
I will admit that I am slightly in love with the chakras anyway, so maybe this is biased! Not just because they are shown as these beautiful and colorful centers of energy that look like flowers, but also because I can completely identify with what they represent and how they make us feel.
One thing I became aware of, in my journey into yoga, is that I have some work to do on my chakras, but before this book, I didn’t know what or I didn’t have the guidance needed to find out what it was that I needed to focus on.
Anodea has 40 years of experience in Chakras healing and from reading her last book I can see that experience has allowed her to translate a very abstract concept, for most, into something anyone can understand. For me, even being familiar with energy, believing in its flow and being aware and able to visualize the chakras, I found the information in this book incredible!
The depth and clarity with which the Chakras are explained is a work of art and the functions and exercises applicable to each, are practical and magical!
Every one of the seven Chakras (Muladhara, Svadhisthana, Manipura, Anahata, Visuddha, Ajna and Sahasrara) is explained in details, in its metaphysical meaning as well as physical resonance, together with specific exercises to activate and heal them.
From this book I also learned that aside from the seven chakras most of us heard of, there are others, probably imaginable as meridians that go through the major chakras. Anodea does not go into specifics here, it would be very confusing, and she makes a good point: it takes a lifetime to master the seven major chakras, we could not possibly try to dive even deeper and risking getting lost in the process.
One of the most amazing things I realized, reading this book, is that the energy flowing within each chakra, when out of balance, can either be depleted or overpowering. Our personalities and character are related to this energy flow.
Word by word I started realizing the work I need to do within myself and how some of my physical and character attributes are connected to the chakras.
One of the Chakras I have been very aware of in the last four month, since my last Module, is the Svadhisthana Chakra, right on the belly. I complained to my yoga guru that I don’t feel my belly muscles and generally I am very protective of that part of my body. I also, tend to suffer with tummy problems when not careful, easily upsetting my digestive system as well when out of balance overall.
I think that I have been aware of this for a long time but it became normal for me to feel this way. However this book brought some truths to light, which made me start my healing process of this specific chakra.
The exercises are simple and very easy to follow, but they, like everything else, require commitment and faith! The results are not immediate, at least not for me, but I do feel a slight difference as if a weight came off my belly and I can now feel more presence there. This chakra is also connected with the element of water, which lately, I have been very attracted to.
I know that I have been using the word synchronicity a lot lately, but it is just amazing how this book came to me at a time when I identified that I was very attracted to water and have been craving being in it (swimming and feeling surrounded by it) and that the chakra I have the most blockage in, is connected to water.
If anything this proves that not does the Universe know what its doing but so does Anodea, as the Universe sent her to me at the right time.
With Chakras affecting the energy flow in our bodies, this book is a great guide to understanding personalities as well. Mostly your own, as I feel consciousness comes from understanding oneself first, but also others, stressing the need for empathy, which is also connected to the heart chakra.
I am sure this book will be an optimal read for most people who are exploring their lives and their paths and want to heal from loss, anger, from insecurity. Anything we can possibly imagine is linked to a chakra and it is so important to really take the time to understand what each does for us.
This topic can oftentimes be seen as overwhelming and difficult but this book is a recommended read to grasp the essence of this subject with ease.
I cannot stress enough how wonderfully written Anodea’s work is and I genuinely recommend this book to everyone! My friends: this will change you’re your life!
