Yoga offers a wide range of benefits, which can add quality to our lives – not just physically but mentally too. It is referred to as “dynamic meditation” as it calms the mind while we are in motion.
I started Yoga in 2007, but I was very intimidated by it and after a year I gave it up. I felt that I didn’t fit in on the mat and that I was too overweight to practice.
But the problem was not that Yoga is for slim people, because it truly isn’t, the problem was me. I was afraid of a quiet mind because I lived in internal chaos.
But when I started again 4 years ago, I embraced everything Yoga stands for and suddenly miracles started to happen. As I shared in my article for the OM YOGA MAGAZINE last October (also featured in my blog now) , the moment I let go of my fears, all the changes happened.
I went on to study to become a Yoga teacher with one of the finest instructors I know: Alessandra Pecorella. She truly lives Yoga, following an Ayurvedic approach to life in its connection to nature. She is the founder of Aditya Yoga School, a fully Yoga Alliance certified teaching program.
The more I learn and discover about Yoga’s amazing benefits the more I have to pass on to my students. My mantra is that knowledge is the key to growth and freedom.
